one more day at home . . .

"I figured out how to get mommy to stay home with me again today. I threw up in the car this morning on the way to daycare. She just turned around, and home we went. Of course there was a big mess to clean up, but that doesn't concern me. Grandma will be here to entertain me tomorrow. Ahhh-goooo!"

henry is sick :(

Poor little Henry is sick for the first time. A virus has been going around his school, and now he's got it. Bad cough, fever, vomitting, the whole bit. This has been going on since Friday. Grandma Patti came out today and looked in his ears, and listened to his lungs and everything is okay there. We just need to keep him hydrated, and get him back to his old self soon. I like his old self the best.

check out my new exersaucer

"I like to play with toys now, so I guess I'm officially a kid. This new exersaucer has more toys than I know what to do with. I like the toy that lights up and makes the animal noises the best. I also like the music it plays. The dragon puppet rocks. I'm going to be walking in no time."

out for a stroll . . .

The weather has been great for taking walks in the afternoon. Henry gets to ride in his baby bjorn or his stroller, and Olive gets to come along, too! Henry always falls asleep in his stroller halfway through the walk. He's not a big fan of the sun being in his eyes, so you have to plan your route accordingly.

mini-val

I took this picture this morning while Henry was watching Baby Einstein. Thank god for Baby Einstein, I don't know how I would get ready in the mornings without it.

welcome back, suns

Suns, I missed ya. They will be starting their preseason games back in the states today. Too bad it's at noon, and I will have to miss it. Looking forward to the season.

A year ago today . . .

A year ago today . . . I found out I was pregnant. It only took 3 pregnancy tests to convince myself. After a couple weeks of feeling like I was coming down with the flu, I decided maybe I should take a pregnancy test. (What if? nahhh.) It was positive. Then I decided it was just a cheap test, so I drove to Walgreens, and bought another one. It was positive, too! Then I called my doctor, they said I should go there so they could confirm it. It was positive, too! What a crazy year it has been. I will say Henry was definitely worth all the heartburn and morning sickness . . . now if I could get just get into my old jeans. :(

henry loves his new fishbowl toy!

Here is Henry playing with his new fishbowl toy. It has a little fish, happy little clam, crab, and a smiling starfish that you can take out and put back in. It's hard for Olive to understand these toys are not for her. They look the same, and make the same sounds. They fit nicely in her mouth. Val found the little clam in the back yard yesterday while he was out there thatching. Poor Olive will do anything to get some attention these days.

a very important date

On this day, five years ago, I met my future husband (who says to keep him off of this "thing'). We went to dinner at Outback and to an ASU football game with a big group of people. Jill and Rob set it up. I miss them. Anyway, he asked me out later that night, and the rest is history. We will celebrate at Outback tonight - just like we did last year, only last year I was pregnant and I didn't know it yet! :0 Those margaritas didn't hurt Henry one bit. The Svorinics are watching Henry for us, so it can be an official date.

runny rice cereal. yummmmmm.

Here is Henry sitting in his new high chair. He doesn't really fill it out yet. He actually ate his first rice cereal for Miss Jessica at school today. Peas and carrots won't be far behind. And what's this sprouting up on his head . . . blonde hair?

a day in the life of the 'scada lady'

Some of my customers call me the SCADA lady. SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data Aquisition, and it is one of the types of automated control systems I sell.

I had the funniest sales call today. Since I'd had no results calling this company (I better make the company anonymous) on the phone, I decided to take a little drive and see if I would have better luck in person. This is a common thing to do in my line of work, and surprisingly, you will be able to see the person right then and there, a lot of the time. This place was practically half way to Tucson, so I guess they don't get a lot of sales people stopping in. The receptionist was absolutely horrified that I had shown up there without an appointment. She made an announcement over the PA system that my contact had 'an unannounced visitior in the lobby.' Ha ha! He ended up being in a meeting, so I left my card and was off to the next plant. This feisty little gate-keeping grandma will make me chuckle for years to come.

henry partied too hard!

On Saturday, we went to a party for Max and Zack, Steve and Jamie's new twins! Henry did great for the first couple hours! He enjoyed mingling with everyone, and had a smile for anyone who would pay attention to him. Somewhere into the third hour, things went awry. Henry had quite the melt down, and he wasn't the same for the rest of the day. Val and I even started to wonder if he was sick, or had a tooth popping through his gums, but no, partying with Max and Zack just wore him out. Moral of the story: don't try to have 'just one more' with those crazy Cervi-Skinners. They'll get you everytime!

why can't he just stay this age forever?

Henry is at a great age, in my opinion. He is so smiley and happy, and he squeals with delight when he is really amused by something (like his baby einstein dvds.) Last night while I was giving him a bottle before bed, he grabbed on with both hands, and actually held it himself through the whole feeding. I told him how impressed I was, and he quit sucking a couple times to smile back at me, I guess he was impressed with himself, too.
