henry update

It was 'Grandma Day' today again at the Hammer house. Henry tuckered Grandma out today, demanding to be held most of the day. He hardly slept at all, and was high maintenance, in general. Val says he gets this from his mommy. He is grasping toys now (he likes Emmie's old toys best), and tries to put everything in his mouth. If he gets hungry, and mom isn't around, he's happy to suck on anyone's arm to tide him over. He is liking the books Grandma and Karen read to him. In addition, he rolled over from his back to his tummy all by himself today (he could already go from tummy to back) and tried eating some oatmeal, since he didn't seem to like the rice cereal much. He's not real big on oatmeal either, it turns out. We had a yummy dinner tonight (chicken, cous cous salad, and veggies) and Val and I had a good bottle of wine. Henry is off in lullaby land, and I'm not far behind him . . .

fall is in the air . . .

October is my favorite month here in the Arizona. When you are out and about you hear lots of 'this is why we live in Arizona' type statements, and it just makes me crave pumpkins, Halloween and fall decorations, home cooked meals, hot tea, spicy-smelling things and fall cleaning. It so nice and cool at night . . . and great to be able to be outside again.

Wednesday is Grandma Day

Every Wednesday, Henry hangs out with Grandma Patti. Grandma Patti waited a long time to be a grandma, and she is soooooo excited. Henry loves his grandma days.

Tanya, my friend from Seattle, is going to have her first baby any day now. Today is her due date. Everyone wish Tanya a speedy delivery. We are so glad to see our friends having a girl! She will join Henry, Max, Zack, and Jake - all boys born in our group of friends so far this year!

Hello blog!

Welcome to my blog. I was discussing setting up a webpage for family yesterday with my good friend Pablo, and he suggested starting with a blog. I thought it was a great idea, so here it is. Incase you aren't hip to blogs, here's the definition:

The other great thing about a blog is that you can post photos to it! Great for family and friends that are out of town, and don't get to see you very often. I'm a new mom. My son, Henry, is turning 4 months old this week. I'll be posting tidbits like this one here from time to time, so be sure to check back once in a while for the latest on what's going on with me.
